Für diese Arbeit besuchte ich in London Statuen aus Bronze, von geschichtlich bedeutsamen und umstrittenen Persönlichkeiten. Die Figuren sind dabei so ausgehwählt, dass sie ein möglichst breites Spektrum an Denkrichtungen, Überzeugungen und Zielen repräsentieren.
Mit einem Hammer ausgestattet erklomm ich die Statuen und versetzte ihnen einen Schlag auf den Kopf.
Die Aufnahmen der einzelnen Aktionen wurden dann auf eine Weise geschnitten und kombiniert, dass alle Schläge synchron stattfinden. Die Statuen erklingen dadurch alle gleichzeitig und erzeugen gemeinsam eine eigenwillige Harmonie.
For this work, I visited bronze statues of historically significant and controversial personalities in London. Thereby, I selected the figures in such a way that they represent the broadest possible spectrum of thought directions, convictions and goals.
Equipped with a hammer, I climbed up the statues and hit them on the head.
Then I edited the shots of the individual actions and combined them in such a way that all blows occur in sync. Thus, the statues all resound simultaneously and jointly create an idiosyncratic harmony.
